10,000 single parents helped back into work
Reed in Partnership is celebrating today after helping over 10,000 single parents back into work across the UK. The achievement was marked by a visit from Kitty Ussher MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary at the Department for Work and Pensions, to the company’s offices in Southwark. .
The event marks a milestone in the continued success of Reed in Partnership, who specialise in helping single parents and the long term unemployed find meaningful work by breaking down barriers to employment that lone parents can face, such as lack of confidence, childcare problems, transport issues and training. .
Chris Melvin, Chief Executive of Reed in Partnership said: "Helping the long-term unemployed and single parents into work is becoming ever more important in these difficult times. We're delighted that our work has resulted in over 10,000 single parents being supported into employment. This is a result of a lot of hard work from our staff and the dedication of our single parents customers who wanted to move from benefits into work.".
Kitty Ussher MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary at the Department for Work and Pensions comments: “Getting 10,000 single parents into work is a great achievement. Parental employment is the single biggest determinant of family income and children in out-of-work families are at a high risk of poverty. Work, therefore, continues to be the most sustainable route out of poverty. That is why the work that organisations like Reed in Partnership do is so important and I’m pleased to be here to help celebrate this occasion.”
