Reed in Partnership proudly announces its involvement in the Young Person's Guarantee

The Young Person's Guarantee is designed to address youth unemployment in the UK, and Reed in Partnership is now providing work focused training to 18-24 year olds as part of the scheme. The initiative commits to providing these young people with employment opportunities, training and work experience.

The courses are run by Reed in Partnership from two offices in London and are specifically designed for those who have been on Jobseekers Allowance for six months or more. The training is committed to equipping young people with the skills they need to achieve their job goals and kick-start their careers.

Young people joining the programme are given a dedicated Personal Adviser to help them create a tailored back-to-work plan based on their barriers, job goals and interests. In order to achieve the most effective solution, the Adviser matches them to the most suitable programme of training.

The training is supported by key delivery partners, including Springboard, the Xchange Group and Reed Learning, who together provide a wide range of employability-related training courses.

Options on the programme include:

Transferable Skills
Training to improve basic reading, writing, maths or computer skills, which will work towards a recognised ‘Skills for Life’ qualification.

Job Specific Training
Training based on a specific sector, such as retail, which provides sector knowledge. This training will lead to an NVQ Level 2 qualification in the young person's chosen sector.

Employability Skills
Essential training for those who struggle with CVs, interviews, business culture and the general processes surrounding finding and keeping a job.

Work Trials
A minimum of four weeks’ workplace experience for those wishing to put training into practice, and improve their CVs.

Graduate Support
A high level overview of the recruitment process for graduates who have struggled to find work since leaving university.

Executive Skills
Key skills training for managerial and higher level candidates, which includes negotiation and communication skills.

As a demographic group, young people have been particularly affected by the economic downturn, making this initiative so important. “The aim of this programme is really to support young people into their chosen career, rather than just into a job. That's why we provide a variety of training programmes and are committed to the future success of our customers,” said Dermot Moloney, Operations Manager for the programme. "We have helped almost 100 young people acquire the training they need to give the solid foundations to start their careers and look forward to seeing the positive outcomes that this training provides
