AFTER YOU SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION
I have submitted my application. What happens next ?
Firstly please ensure that the application has been submitted correctly, by carefully reading the instructions on the pages that appear once you have completed the form. There have been cases where applicants have thought they had submitted the application form, when this was not in fact the case. Hence it is very important to read all instructions up to there being information on the screen confirming submission . Once you have submitted your application you will also receive an email acknowledging its receipt within 48 hours - if you have nor received this then please contact us.
How will I find out whether my application has been successful?
An email will be sent to you advising you to log back into the system and book a telephone interview if you have been successful.
If your application is unsuccessful you will be informed by email.
What is your recruitment process?
- We will screen your application and advise you if this has been successful or unsuccessful.
- Successful candidates will receive an email advising them to book themselves a Telephone Interview via our website. This interview will last approximately 40 minutes.
- If you are successful at the Telephone Interview stage you will be asked to complete a Credit Check form.
- After the Credit Check candidates will be asked to complete a Personality Test called 'Giotto'.
- After all the above have been successfully completed candidates will then be asked to book onto an Assessment Centre via the website.
How long does the recruitment process last?
- After the Telephone Interview the candidate has to complete a Credit Check and online personality test.
- If successful then they will have to book into an Assessment Centre.
- It is entirely dependent on how quickly the candidate completes each of the stages.
What does the Assessment Centre consist of ?

This is a half day event and candidates will be asked to participate in the below elements

Do I need to take any documentation with me to the assessment ?
Yes. Details of the required documents will be sent with the joining instructions but will consist of Proof of Eligibility to work in the UK (e.g. passport) and also Proof of Address. Candidates will be asked to complete a referencing form prior to the Assessment Centre to take with them. At the Assessment Centre candidates will complete a Criminal Records Bureau form and also a Disclosure Scotland Form.
When do I find out if I have been successful at Assessment Centre ?
If you have been successful you will be called within 5 working days
- After a candidate has been successful at the Assessment Centre they will be made a conditional offer. Should they accept then before starting they will need to undergo pre-employment checks (referencing, Disclosure Scotland and CRB).
- It is only after these checks have been successfully completed that the offer will change from a conditional one to a formal one.
- At that stage a finalised start date will be agreed.
If a candidate is unsuccessful an email will be sent informing them of this.
How long does referencing and screening take to complete ?
We aim to complete this procedure within 2-3 weeks. After this the candidates' line manager will call them to discuss a start date.
OTHER QUESTIONS
Are travelling expenses to the Assessment Centre paid for?
Candidates will not have travel expenses paid if they are being interviewed in the same city as they are hoping to work in e.g. London candidates will NOT have their expenses reimbursed as the Assessment Centres for these positions are held in London.
Why conduct a Credit Check?
- As part of their role Employment Advisers and Employment Trainers are responsible for handling government funds e.g. in the form of Personal Job Allowances (PJAs).
- PJAs are discretionary funds which the Employment Adviser or Employment Trainer can access to provide individuals they are helping to increase their employability e.g. to buy a suit for a job interview.
- Hence we have agreements in place with the Department for Work and Pensions related to how carry out recruitment, such that all candidates have a credit check undertaken on them to ensure that they do not have any active County Court Judgements (or any other evidence of financial irregularities).
I have previously applied/attended an interview for this role. Can I reapply?
We are unable to process applications from candidates who have attended an interview for the same role within the last six months. Candidates can reapply after six months.
I have previously applied/attended an interview for a different role. Can I apply for a separate vacancy?
You may apply for a different role and there are no time restrictions on when a new application can be submitted
